About Christian Bertsch-Engel

Christian Bertsch-Engel is COO of CYCAP, where he has worked since 2014 and has been a member of the Management Board since 2018. He is responsible for developing and implementing the company's AI strategy, as well as for rethinking the operational management of renewable energy assets through digitalization, automation and artificial intelligence. Prior to joining CYCAP, he held leadership and management positions in renewable energy asset operations. He holds a Master of Science with a focus on ecology.

Under his responsibility, CYCAP deploys and develops proprietary AI applications that support the in-house team of experts across the entire value chain — from contract management and reporting through to risk analysis. These applications are an established part of standard processes rather than a pilot exercise: a dedicated AI team is permanently embedded in the organization.

Christian Bertsch-Engel's motivation is to connect data, processes and subject-matter expertise so that CYCAP's team of experts makes better decisions — faster and on a more robust basis. For him, AI is neither an end in itself nor a pure efficiency programme, but the precondition for managing the growing complexity of this market operationally. This is how renewable energy investments are moved reliably into their next, digital era — with tangible added value for investors.
